Why Horizon?Through a network of seven state-of-the-art laser vision correction centers conveniently located throughout the Bay and Sacramento metropolitan areas, over 100,000 successful procedures have been performed by Horizon surgeons, making us among the most experienced laser vision correction providers in the country.
Our medical staff has been at the scientific forefront through participation in FDA clinical trials for advanced laser vision correction procedures which are now widely available internationally. They are often sought out by others in the medical profession for their skill and expertise. This expertise is manifested in great visual outcomes for patients who gladly refer their friends and family members to Horizon Vision Centers Medical Group surgeons.
When it comes to Laser Vision Correction, one size does not fit all. Lasers utilized by Horizon Vision Centers are able to treat the widest range of refractive vision problems approved by the Food and Drug Administration. The VISX Star S-4 is the only excimer laser in the world to use a sophisticated array of seven beams to produce a uniquely consistent, smooth ablation.
In addition to the VISX Star S-4, Custom wavefront LASIK with the ALLEGRETTO WAVE® laser utilizes an active eye-tracking system that enables the laser beam to track patients' eye movements during LASIK surgery. This ensures accurate beam placement and provides patients with a more relaxed experience, as eye movement will not affect the procedure. The ALLEGRETTO WAVE® also makes it possible to correct a larger area of the cornea than is possible using other platforms. Conventional lasers treat a portion of the cornea that is only about six to eight millimeters in diameter, but the ALLEGRETTO WAVE® laser treatment areas as wide as nine millimeters. This prevents glare, halos, and other night vision problems that can occur following LASIK surgery; when the pupil expands and becomes larger than the corrected area of the cornea.
